We tend to associate brands or products with certain areas around the world.  Amalfi’s famous lemons, Chanel in Paris, and Pizza in Connecticut.  When we think of Rioja, the iconic Bodegas Muga catapults to the forefront.  They’re impressive array of wines have always left us dazzled … especially so at the Gran Reserva level.  A bottling they’ll only release in the best of the best vintages … they’re Prado Enea sits among the best Gran Reserva anytime it’s released and the 2015 is a perfect example of how this producer reaches for unrivaled heights.

2015 was a warmer, riper vintage resulting in wines of opulence and a luscious character.  Yet Muga always seems to find a sense of balance by offering structure to this heady Rioja.  The 2015 Prado Enea delivers on the signature of both vintage and producer.  Power, grace, depth and length … this is everything you want in top tier Gran Reserva level Rioja and serves a great reminder of this producer’s legendary status.  Not just for Rioja … but for all of Spain.
