Mata Hari is an authentic Absinthe made with Grand Wormwood. Mata Hari is ideal for mixing in cocktails because it is a Bohemian-style Absinthe with a delicate licorice flavor that won’t overpower mixed drinks. Try it in the traditional Absinthe ritual and watch the ”louche” effect turn the natural green color into an opalescent cloud. Mata Hari boasts an impressive pedigree with a formula dating back to 1881, and five continuous generations later is still being produced by the Fischer family in Vienna Austria.

| Star aniseed contributes the primary flavor definitive of real absinthes and is complemented by delicate aromas of herbs including sage, fennel and coriander. Grand Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) provides the essential bitter note to balance the sweetness and is the source of thujone, the component in real Absinthes that was the cause of the ban in the early 1900’s. Mata Hari is perfect for mixing in creative cocktails as well as classics like the Sazerac. |
