Publication: The International Wine & Spirit Competition 2003 Wine: Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 Date: July 2003 Country: UK Review: Gold Medal Publication: Wine Chile Supplement 2003 Wine: Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 Date: June 2003 Country: UK Review: 89 points Comments: "Very concentrated capsicum, blackcurrant and plum. Power and weight with a tight finish but the fruit is all there". DS. "A smoky, toasty dominated nose of very ripe blackcurrants and a touch of garrigues. Very dry tannins, fresh acidity, toasty, classy oak and a savoury finish. Drink 2003-2007". PS

Rating
90 Pts Robert Parker Broad-shouldered, with loam, sage, tobacco and currant flavors backed by a solid tannin structure. Dark and fleshy on the finish. Drink now through 2009.

Technical notes
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon Origin: Puente Alto Vineyard. Puente Alto, Valle del Maipo. Soil: It is alluvial, stony, poor in nutrients and highly permeable due to the gravel sub-soil. It produces plants of frugal growth, which bear clusters of small, concentrated ripe grapes. Climate: Semi-arid Mediterranean. Influenced by the Andes, this is the coolest part of the Maipo Valley. The large swings in temperature from day to night prolongs grape ripening; concentrating fruit and intensifying aromas. Harvest: Hand picked. April 10-25, 2000. Aging: 14 months in 1,2 & 3 years old French oak barrels, then aged for a further 6 months after bottling
